What I'm Into this Week
Art I love, Special bags, books I just read, my favorite window treatments, etc.
Art:
I really love art and have a few commission pieces from my favorite artists I’ve found. I love to search through vintage stores or Etsy and find unique pieces and then get them framed. Sometimes the framing cost more than the art, but it’s really important.
I love Rebecca Jack- I have a beloved original from her and the way she uses color and chaos all together really attracts me. She does a lot of large scale art which is so beautiful and is on Chairish, 1st Dibs and some private art galleries all over.
Below are some other pieces I am loving right now.
Anything Hockney, always. This lithograph is amazing. Serigraph for a piece that makes you stop and stare. Theres a collection of these textured simple framed pieces that would be nice in a bathroom stacked. Another RB, an original Picasso drawing, a girl can dream and a Reeves botanical print I love in kitchens.
BOOKS:
I’m on a roll and I have read three books this month. I really find it hard to find the time to read but there truly is no better feeling then getting stuck into a good book and not being able to put it down.
The Tell – A very sad, but beautiful story. It’s dark and shocking but also I could not stop reading. It’s a story of a woman who does assisted MDMA and realized she was suppressing feelings of sexual abuse as a child. She goes through the steps of healing and processing this whole trauma and speaks a lot of memory, and how it some can suppress memories. I didn’t love how it ended but it also did end in a really beautiful way.
Let Them – Yes we’ve all seen this book and this one I did audio book in my car on my drives to work. I liked hearing her voice and the way she wants you to hear it so I highly suggest that. I really liked this theory and have been applying it to my life in doses. I especially loved her chapters about adult friendships. I think that there are a lot of good take aways in all of this especially as women and feeling judged or caring what people think. I liked it, a lot.
The Housemaid- A thrilling book I read in about a day and a half at the beach on my latest trip. I had about 5 women come up to me and say – “oh my god I couldn’t put that book down, either.” Thrilling to say the least, an easy read and I just googles that there are 4 more books after, ordering now.
BAGS:
I am in a beaded bag craze right now after Mango listed this one and this one, SO pretty. I have a little collection of vintage ones but some new styles I have been finding are amazing. I wrote about this beautiful one from Rixo in my March Loves Shop and it was a hit. I recently discovered this little brand called The Hold Label. Maybe its been from years of carrying a big-bag filled with diapers and wipes and snacks that my eyes are back on little party bags!
All her bags below x
WINDOWS:
I’ll keep this short and simple. I love a roman shade. I want them on every window. They are not always the cheapest way for sun exposure but they can really change a room. They are the mascara to an eyelash- it can do wonders to your face. You can get some basic measurement sizes on Pottery Barn but all my custom ones I have been getting on Etsy. I’ve been layering roman with curtains on the sides and little ones in bathrooms is just so cute. I want striped ones next. I was impressed with the prices and quality of this seller.
ZARA FINDS:
Ok trying to look away but damn Zara is GOOD right now.
Perfect basic yellow dress, mini tennis dress ( I got it fits great), woven top (love it with the white pants) , ruffle yellow throw on, yellow over shirt, green heals (i got and they are actually so comfortable and amazing) , this beautiful knit bag, more jelly sandals in a nice brown, sequin skirt - always a good idea, this mini structured white dress that I have in red and I ordered in white too I loved it so much (very flattering). These fun jeans (this prints so good) and this beautiful smocked dress that looks $$$.
White Denim:
It is the season for white pants. This is an ode to Pistola and their great fitting jeans.
Love these utility pants, the fabric is beautiful, I have them. SO nice with a tight white Tee. These low rise , straight legged jean that look like a vintage Levi shape. Then the high rise barrel that is flattering on everyones legs.
Working on a recent travel write up, but let me know what else you want to read XO Cyd
Hey Cyd! Would love if you did a round up on dressing a baby girl like you did for boys. Having a girl soon and need some recs for clothing—or even all things nursery.
