Vacation Dressing
Part One
Ok, I’m back.
We just returned from our fourth annual Spring Break trip to the Cayman Islands, and somehow, each year it gets better. This trip, though, felt especially needed. Life and work have been nonstop, and after my acupuncturist told me my adrenal glands were going wacky, I knew I needed to truly slow down.
More than anything, I was craving stillness—time to sit, reset, and just be present with my kids. Normally when I travel, I want to do everything: explore, shop, see it all. But this trip was intentionally different. It was about rest. And honestly, I needed that mental reset more than I realized—I was about to combust.
I didn’t do much shopping beforehand, which felt refreshing in itself. Instead, I shopped my own closet and rediscovered pieces I’ve collected throughout the year—those special finds you hold onto, waiting for the right moment. I’ve never subscribed to the idea that if you haven’t worn something in a while, it should go. I believe the opposite: buy what you love, and the occasion or trip will find you.
As I’ve mentioned before, my everyday life is pretty grounded—working from home, school drop-offs and pickups—so when I travel, I love to lean all the way in and go for it with looks.
I’ll be sharing a 3–4 part series on travel dressing, with outfit inspiration for your upcoming spring and summer escapes—whether that’s the beach, the pool, the lake, or wherever your plans take you.
For now here is the entire shop that I’ll continue to add to for the next couple weeks.
We had to stop over in Palm Beach on the way over to check on my husbands store. I got this gown from Doen that I just love so much because of the fabric. It’s sold out but they have this one that is just as beautiful- and in stock. Imagine it off the shoulder on one side- as well.
I like to pair it with things you wouldn’t normally think to- so a pair of silver lace up kitten heals from my Dillards collection and this crochet bag from Bode.
Wash your face with my favorite oil cleanser before (love an oil cleanser on a warm trip), pair it with basic pair of silver hoops (here in the shop) and you have a great look.
My first day at the beach in the Caymans I wanted to be basic and easy. I love Zulu and Zephyrs swim and this shape top especially works well with my bust. The older I get I’m trying to be a bit more conservative but still want to feel sexy.
Paired with a straw hat (cause sun, no-no) and a mix metal hoop. Don’t get me started on how much I love jewelry at the beach. It just shines that much more.
I love these torte sunglasses with the all ivory look and these comfy shorts so if you are going up to the bar and back it’s a little bit of coverage. I got a size small.
Rothy’s came out with these espadrille’s which are so comfortable and beach to bar appropriate (they come in about 8 colors).
Cover your self in my favorite body butter after the sun and you are feeling great after that first day sun. I used and entire jar on me and my kids this trip.
It was time for dinner at my favorite spot and I bought this mini-dress from St Agni when I was in Australia for Christmas. I saw this piece and just knew I HAD to have it.
I wore it with this bra under which has great coverage, these silver earrings but I just found these tassel ones - how amazing are they?
Paired it with a silk pair of light blue/green pants and I’m on my way for a crisp martini.
I love it with this stripe hat during the day and I would also wear it as a dress if needed but I loved the idea of layering it with the sheer fabric.
I wore these sandals with most of my looks.
Night two or three, I cant remember was I was just so excited to wear the Birdie Dress. It’s also been the best seller of my collection and I am not surprised, it’s that good! I’m wearing a small.
Paired with this beaded bag… the bags Staud makes are such great quality with the most beautiful detailing. It’s a great size for phone, lipstick and camera and she has so many print options. I have my eye on that tiger one next.
As this dress comes with a slip, I let my girls out because I’m on vacation and I just want to be free. Judge me, I don’t care.
However, if I was with my extended family, I am a big fan of these covers from Cakes and I always wear a low waist nude underwear. This bra works well, too. The key is go a shade darker then your skin and you really don’t see.
Paired with these shoes for that “barefoot” look.
Another warm day at the beach, I wore my most loved Chan Luu earrings with this one piece ( I wear a small) that I have been wearing for years. I have it in almost every color— it’s that good.
I also loved the shape of this one piece with that bra top- very flattering.
I did a blue and white scarf in my hair, sunglasses and these shoes when you are headed up for a sun break to have lunch, are perfect. They were made for the beach.
Another balmy night at dinner- I wanted to feel glamourous. I truly love this collection drop but if I had to pick one favorite it would be this Sansa Dress. I felt like a greek goddess in the pale yellow, georgette fabric. Wear these nipple covers with it if you need. (I’m wearing an xs but could go small)
Paired with this honey tennis necklace that pairs so well, these nude kitten heels that make you look barefoot but give added height.
Pair it with this sequin bag for a wow moment. I loved this look.
Collecting more- till then, here is the little shop again- Hope you had a great Spring Break x Cyd
