Business and Pleasure Co launched their latest collaboration with Elsa Hosk last week. Its been an exciting collaboration in the works for the last 6-12 months. I’ve been so busy with my own job and life, that one night I was sitting at the dinner table and my husband- and he said they had a shoot for it next week.
Of course I asked “who’s styling it, what’s the vibe? This is big! You are mixing fashion with furniture for the first time you gotta do this right.” Bless the team of talented boys but I was admit the clothing needed to be as amazing as the furniture.
The challenge, it was in 7 days….It’s summer, no summer camps were in session to watch the kids but sometimes you just gotta stay up late and go-go-go. I also have no problem shopping with an amazing theme in mind.
The first collection they designed together was Fall. We wanted the furniture to stand out yet not let the styling take over. They booked this amazing mid-century modern house to shoot at that fit perfectly with the inspiration of the collection.
The main goal is to show the collection, but tell a story with Business x Pleasure and what that actually means. Business… being I pulled vintage blazers, Cartier watches, heals, trench coats, collars and different props like old phones and newspapers. Pleasure…. by mixing in swim and mini shorts. Lots of knitwear as we wanted it to feel good for the Fall transition but also noting that this is an outdoor furniture collection.
We pulled inspiration from old pictures of Lauren Hutton, Ralph Lauren ads and the early 80s and 90s.
